In the next moment,
that rust-filled whip swung straight towards his face.
“Ahhh!!!”
A painful scream erupted from Lu Yuan Zhao’s throat, shaking the ceiling as if it trembled.
Then, he was yanked up from the ground by Bai Xing Luo.
His bloodied cheek had a gash running through it, carved by a whip full of barbs, leaving Lu Yuan Zhao unrecognizable.
Bai Xing Luo laughed, but his tone was laced with a heavy killing intent.
“Dare to touch my male lord, and I’ll kill you.”
With a flick of his wrist, there was a crisp sound, and Lu Yuan Zhao’s neck was twisted to one side, his life unknown.
“Bai Xing Luo, Tong Sui is still in our hands.”
Lu Ting’s words made Bai Xing Luo pause, and he casually tossed Lu Yuan Zhao aside like trash.
The management bug, hiding aside, finally trembled out to drag Lu Yuan Zhao away.
Only Lu Ting and Bai Xing Luo remained.
“Although I dislike you, I must thank you for removing such a big trouble for me, bringing me one step closer to the position of Insect Emperor.”
Lu Ting smiled, pulling out a handkerchief from his pocket. “Want to clean up?”
Bai Xing Luo swatted his hand away.
“What about my male lord?”
“Rest assured,” Lu Ting said with a smile, “he’s in the VIP medical cabin, and I heard he’s surrounded by a lot of female insects. Want to take a look?”
The virtual screen of the light brain displayed the appearances of those male insects clearly.
“Is this what you call developing feelings over time?”
Bai Xing Luo clenched his fists, the sound of cracking echoing.
“After all, taking care of them makes you familiar. These female insects have many tricks; if soft methods don’t work, hard ones can. As for you, after a while, you will probably forget everything.”
He should be content as long as the male lord was safe.
But seeing those scheming female insects surrounding him, Bai Xing Luo felt a deep, gnawing pain.
That was clearly his position…
“Oh, by the way, aren’t you curious why he fell ill?”
“…Why?”
“Because he soothed you. It’s your violent mental energy that harmed him; everything is because of you.
You two will never be together.”
A dazed look appeared in Bai Xing Luo’s eyes, a pain and confusion more profound than he experienced during the severe lashings.
Seeing that his goal had been achieved, Lu Ting turned to leave, throwing out one last sentence, “Just wait obediently for judgment; this is the last thing you can do to help him.”
“I don’t believe it.”
Bai Xing Luo gritted his teeth. “Our mental energies fused perfectly!”
Lu Ting halted, and upon realizing he had been exposed, he didn’t panic. “Think whatever you want; in any case, you can’t escape punishment.”
Lu Ting left with a triumphant smile.
The number of royal male insects is very limited; aside from Lu Yuan Zhao, the others were all inferior, useless males with no competitiveness.
As for that insignificant D-level male insect, he was not his target. Lu Ting didn’t plan to take action against him either.
A mere D-level male insect posed no threat to his plans.
At the top floor of the Imperial Central Hospital,
York was cornered by a group of female insects, and an agitated one clutched his collar, “Didn’t you say you were the best doctor here? How can you not even cure a high fever?”
“It’s been days; what on earth are you doing?”
York’s expression had lost its initial arrogance; exhaustion and disarray had set in from a lack of rest.
He shook off the female insect’s hand.
“Mind your manners; I won’t joke about Lord Tong Sui’s life.”
“Then explain to us why Lord Tong Sui’s temperature hasn’t gone down and he still hasn’t woken up?”
York was momentarily speechless.
He knew exactly why; countless expensive drugs had been administered to Tong Sui these past few days, yet the fever showed no signs of abating.
A high fever can cause considerable damage to the organs; if this continued, the chances of waking up would become slim to none.
After so many years as a doctor and researcher, he had never encountered such a situation.
However, glancing at these frantic female insects, he knew that if he spoke the truth, it would likely incite a riot.
“Do you understand treatment?” York snapped. “If you don’t know, don’t cause trouble; everyone, step aside.”
Lu Yun Yi accurately caught his hint of apprehension in those words and pressed, “York, as the Third Prince, I have the right to demand you speak the truth.”
The other female insects tensed up.
York sighed under their watchful eyes, “If it’s still not cooler by today, then the chance of waking up is bleak.”
The female insects erupted in chaos.
“That’s impossible, what nonsense are you spouting?”
“How can he not wake up from just a fever? You must have tampered with it!”
Payne Warner trembled as she spoke, “I’ll contact my female father; there must be a way to help Lord Tong Sui!”
Even the usually calm Lu Yun Yi frowned, “What aspect went wrong? If there’s something you need to provide, you can say it now.”
“I can’t find the cause,” York admitted his failure, “all data is normal, and I can’t determine what is causing the high fever.”
If it were an infection, the report would show clear indicators.
But everything about Tong Sui was normal.
One of the female insects rushed out and punched him in the face, “How can you be so selfish, hiding this for so long? If something happens to Lord Tong Sui, I’ll be the first to take you down.”
York didn’t retaliate.
“You don’t need to say it; I will resign as well.”
The atmosphere instantly grew heavy; the hope of recovery had been dangling by a thread for the past few days, and now it felt as if the last hope had been pulled away, crushing them with its weight.
